Job Title: Registered Dietitian
Department: Nutrition Services
Reports to: Associate Director of Nutrition Services
Job Summary
For over 35 years, Project Angel Food has cooked and delivered medically tailored meals to people living with serious illnesses throughout Los Angeles County. In recent years, we have grown by every measure, surpassing 1 million meals annually and 2,500 clients per week. Our business models have also become more complex. While meals are always free to our clients, we have numerous grants and business partnerships. In the foreseeable future, Project Angel Food has every expectation of continuing to expand and growing our teams.
The Registered Dietitian (RD) is an integral part of the team at Project Angel Food and its mission of providing medically tailored meals. The RD provides Medical Nutrition Therapy to clients in Project Angel Food’s various programs and menu oversight. The RD also works closely with a team of fellow Dietitians to provide services based on the needs of Project Angel Food. This is a hybrid position; working off-site for up to 4 days a week is optional, while commuting to our offices in Hollywood at least once per week is required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Works with a wide range of nutrition-related diseases and populations conducting nutritional assessments, nutritional screens and individualized nutrition counseling for clients by phone daily.
• Assists in the development, review, and approval of nutrition guidelines based on agency strategic goals and program contract specifications.
• Maintains all necessary documentation for grant, research and contract reporting as needed.
• Works with other departments at Project Angel Food to ensure clients receive appropriate meals and information when necessary.
• Refers and advocates for clients to other service providers when appropriate.
• Provides outreach to under-served communities through health fairs, nutrition lectures, and education materials.
• Collaborates with foodservice staff on recipe development and analysis.
• Works with the Nutrition Services team on menu development, new program implementation, surveys, and data evaluation.
• Works closely with local organizations involved in nutrition research.
• Participates in department, agency and other meetings as appropriate.
• Performs other duties as necessary.
Skills and Abilities
• Registered Dietitian with community experience and knowledge of serious illnesses.
• Knowledge of Foodservice and Recipe Analysis.
• Sensitivity to the circumstances and needs of people living with serious illnesses.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Flexible in adapting to changing situations.
• Good organizational skills.
• Ability to interact with individuals in a culturally diverse environment.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Familiarity with MS Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive.
• Must be Bilingual (Spanish).
Salary
$70,000
