Objectives:

  1. Identify and describe the need for nutrition education and counseling designed for Latino audiences

  2. Describe common misconceptions about Latin diets and mistakes when offering nutrition counseling/education to Latinos

  3. Describe a appropriate strategy to offer nutrition counseling/education using Latin foods

Krista Linares is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist specializing in diabetes management and prevention and serving the Latino community. The mission of her company, Nutrition con Sabor, is to see Latinos better represented in the health and wellness world, and promote health equity for Latinos. Her work focuses on dispelling myths about Latin culture and cuisine and, most importantly, empowering Latinos to incorporate their traditional foods and ingredients into a balanced meal pattern for both emotional and physical nourishment.
