DD Summit 2025 Session: Empowered Transitions: Supporting Women of Color with Nutrition Through Perimenopause and Beyond
This session dives into the unique nutritional needs and challenges women of color face during perimenopause, menopause and beyond. As these life stages are accompanied by hormonal shifts and increased risks for conditions such as cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, type 2 diabetes, and certain cancers, culturally relevant and individualized nutrition strategies are essential. Participants will explore the latest research on how diet impacts hormonal health, inflammation, and chronic disease risk in this population.
The session highlights the interplay of systemic health disparities, cultural traditions, and access to resources that influence dietary choices and overall well-being. Through case studies and actionable insights, attendees will learn how to empower women of color with practical, culturally meaningful approaches to elevate nutrient intake, support and protect bone and heart health, and preserve muscle mass. Topics include culturally significant food choices, managing stress through lifestyle practices, and addressing common barriers to implementing these changes. This session aims to equip participants with tools to advocate for equity in healthcare and help their clients navigate these transitions with confidence.
CEUs are only provided on the full DD Summit recording package. Learn more here.
